Reported by Rituparna Sen (Section Editor) · Autocar India ·
JSW Group's homegrown automotive company, JSW Motors, is set to launch its debut model, the Combat, a plug-in hybrid SUV based on the Chery Jetour T2. The Combat is expected to hit the Indian market during this festive season, with a price tag that could go as low as Rs 30 lakh and as high as Rs 50 lakh. The SUV will be the first 5-seater plug-in hybrid SUV in this price range, making it a strong contender against the Honda ZR-V and the Toyota Fortuner. The Combat's design is expected to be similar to the Jetour T2, with subtle changes to the headlamps, grille, and bumpers, as well as JSW badging. The SUV will feature boxy, upright proportions, squarish LED headlamps, chunky bumpers, generous cladding, 20-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and a bootlid-mounted spare wheel. Inside, the Combat will boast a clean dashboard layout with a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.6-inch digital driver's display, and a four-spoke steering wheel bearing JSW branding. The SUV will also come with a range of features, including a 12-speaker sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, a 540-degree camera, and powered and ventilated front seats. The Combat's powertrain is expected to be a plug-in hybrid setup, using a 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine working in tandem with two electric motors and an 18.4kWh battery. This powertrain is expected to produce a combined 360hp and 610Nm, routed to the front wheels via a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. The Combat is expected to have an all-electric range of 90km, with a combined driving range of 1,200km.
