Rosatom to Offer India Nuclear Technologies and Rare Earths in BRICS Cooperation Push

Rosatom has announced its plans to offer India nuclear technologies ranging from large-capacity reactors to small modular reactors, as the country works to expand its nuclear power capacity. The offer comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, where they discussed a target of $100 billion in bilateral trade by 2030 and greater industrial cooperation. The Russian state-owned nuclear energy company is also seeking opportunities in critical minerals such as titanium, zirconium, and rare-earth materials. According to Rosatom, the company is already constructing a nuclear power plant in India and has identified four areas for cooperation with Indian partners, including metallurgy and advanced manufacturing technologies. The proposals were discussed on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit, according to MoneyControl. India has set an ambitious target of increasing its nuclear capacity to 100 GW by 2047, and Rosatom is ready to contribute to achieving this goal. The company's first deputy director general for corporate development and international business, Kirill Komarov, stated that Rosatom is making a practical contribution towards achieving this goal. The Russian company is also pursuing the localisation of advanced manufacturing technologies in India, with a focus on technology transfer, turnkey additive technology centres, and equipment localisation.
